The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Secures a Significant Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

Last October, Adult Swim welcomed back its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns was sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. During a period often defined by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and propelled it a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

On December 18th, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for a further two seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The show centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who welcomed the series and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."

A President's Endorsement

The official statement also included praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and championed its distinctly quirky appeal.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about following this endearing family navigate their everyday routines.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa stated his hope to help comedy break out of its current sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well help usher in that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to experience the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The entire series is available for streaming on HBO Max.
