Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Combat Party

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could help the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
