In a surprising crossover event that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Disclosed

According to the authorized announcement, "A mysterious encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of banned practices and terrifying transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The narrative introduces a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden cult.

The mission focuses on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Changes

The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Extra Content

Players who accomplish the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana together with several objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Update

This patch also introduces the game's third no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that clearly nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
